Hyderabad, Aug 8 (NationPress) Telangana's IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu announced on Friday that the state government is actively pursuing initiatives to establish Telangana as a global manufacturing hub.
He asserted that Telangana remains at the forefront of the nation in terms of manufacturing-driven growth.
The Economic Survey projects an industrial output of Rs 2.77 lakh crore for 2024–25, with manufacturing contributing nearly 48 percent.
"Our merchandise exports have surpassed Rs 1 lakh crore in just nine months, and our GSDP growth rate stands at 8.2 percent, well above the national average. With the Clean and Green Energy Policy 2025, we have attracted Rs 29,000 crore in clean energy investments and aim to expand renewable capacity to 20,000 MW by 2030," the Minister noted.
He made these remarks during a ceremony to lay the foundation stone for Toshiba's Rs 177 crore Extra High Voltage transformer power expansion, alongside the inauguration of two advanced manufacturing facilities, including a Rs 65 crore CRGO Core Processing Centre and a Rs 105 crore Surge Arrester Unit in Rudraram, Sangareddy district.
These projects, amounting to a total investment of Rs 347 crore, demonstrate the increasing confidence that global firms have in Telangana's industrial environment, he added.
Minister Sridhar Babu also highlighted that the state is setting up dedicated Green Energy Equipment Zones to draw investments in smart grids, power components, and clean technologies.
"Our recent memorandum of understanding with Toshiba in Japan has already yielded significant progress. This counters any skepticism regarding our intentions. Telangana is committed to delivering outcomes with both speed and transparency. I encourage global investors to collaborate with us in crafting the next chapter of industrial success," he emphasized.
He indicated that there are vast opportunities within Telangana for investments in clean technology, semiconductors, robotics, and advanced manufacturing.
"We are forging partnerships with both international and national enterprises to establish industries in the state and provide jobs for our youth. However, some individuals are intentionally disseminating misinformation, erroneously labeling our MoUs as superficial. Today, it is not us, but Toshiba that is effectively responding to such critiques," he continued.
During the visit of a delegation led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to Japan in April, the Telangana government signed an MoU with Toshiba for investments amounting to Rs 562 crore.
He expressed hope that these investments will further enhance the Telangana brand in the global energy sector.
