Hyderabad, July 27 (NationPress) Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar claimed on Sunday that a temple was demolished in Hyderabad to secure the votes of 30 percent Muslim voters in the upcoming by-election for the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency.
Speaking to reporters in Karimnagar, he accused the Congress government in Telangana of demolishing the Peddamma temple in Banjara Hills for political gain.
Sanjay demanded that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy apologize and take immediate action against the officials responsible for the temple's demolition.
“How many temples, mosques, and churches are on roads? But why was the Banjara Hills Peddamma temple targeted? The Congress government must act against those accountable. Are they trying to appease a community that constitutes 30 percent of Jubilee Hills for electoral support?” he questioned.
The BJP leader challenged whether the government had the resolve to demolish places of worship for other communities, asserting that the Hindu community is poised to respond to the Congress's actions regarding the temple.
Sanjay accused the Congress of betraying Hindus and Backward Classes (BCs).
He remarked that the ‘BC declaration’ announced by the Congress in Kamareddy during the 2023 Assembly elections was essentially a ‘Muslim declaration’.
He claimed that the Congress intends to allocate 10 percent reservation for Muslims while only increasing BC reservations by 5 percent.
The Minister of State further alleged that Hindus in Telangana are being portrayed as a ‘minority’ as part of a broader Congress conspiracy. “By granting reservations exclusively to Muslims, they aim to depict Hindus as a minority,” he explained.
He reiterated that the BJP would resist any attempt to include Muslims under the 42 percent reservation for BCs, declaring, “We must halt this now, as the Congress aims to implement this Muslim declaration nationwide.”
Sanjay accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of attempting to weaken the Hindu community by breaching the 50 percent reservation cap. He asserted that Gandhi would ultimately fail, just as his predecessors did.
In response to Congress leaders labeling Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a “converted BC,” Sanjay questioned Gandhi’s own lineage and religion, noting that Modi's BC status was acknowledged by a previous Congress administration.
“Rahul Gandhi’s grandfather was a Parsi, and his mother is an Italian Christian. Is Rahul Gandhi a converted Christian, a converted Muslim, or a converted Hindu?” he posited.
