Bengaluru, July 29 (NationPress) The government of Karnataka has officially declared that it will welcome Duncan Haldane, the 2016 Physics Nobel laureate, and David Gross, the 2004 Physics Nobel laureate, for a significant dialogue set for July 30.
This event serves as a precursor to India’s inaugural Quantum India Bengaluru Summit, which will take place on July 31 and August 1.
State Minister for Minor Irrigation, Science and Technology, N.S. Boseraju, expressed, "Under the visionary guidance of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, our administration is establishing the foundation to make Karnataka the Quantum Capital of India. This interaction with Nobel laureates marks the start of a comprehensive strategy to incorporate quantum innovations into our development framework."
As Bengaluru is already acknowledged as the innovation hub of the nation, the state is intensifying its initiatives to leverage quantum technologies for both economic and social development, the Minister noted.
From information technology and aerospace to pioneering quantum realms, the state strives to bolster its global standing in innovation, Minister Boseraju stated.
"This dialogue will enable high-level discussions between the Nobel laureates and Karnataka’s leading officials, including the Principal Secretaries of Industries, IT and Biotechnology, and Higher Education. The interactions are anticipated to advance quantum research, infrastructure, and alliances with international experts," he added.
"The attendance of Nobel laureates at the Quantum India Bengaluru Summit highlights the global importance of the event, which will unite leaders from both national and international quantum science communities, positioning Karnataka at the forefront of India’s quantum revolution," the Minister remarked.
Present at the preparatory meeting at Vikasa Soudha were Sadashiva Prabhu, Managing Director of the Karnataka Science and Technology Promotion Society, Indian Institute of Science Professor Akshay Naik, Co-chair of the summit, along with other senior officials.
