Hyderabad, Feb 9 (NationPress) Unidentified individuals attacked C. S. Rangarajan, the head priest of Chilkur Balaji Temple, at his residence near Hyderabad due to a religious dispute, as per a police complaint filed on Sunday.
The Moinabad police apprehended a suspect, identified as Veera Raghava Reddy, in connection with the incident on Sunday. Authorities are actively working to capture other suspects involved.
As per Rangarajan's complaint, on February 7, a group of 20 individuals invaded his home in Chilkur, which is in close proximity to Chilkur Balaji Temple, and physically assaulted him.
Soundararajan, the convenor of the Temples Protection Movement and father of Rangarajan, stated that certain individuals, claiming to be descendants of the Ikshwaku dynasty, aimed to establish a Ram Rajya. He alleged that these individuals have formed private militias to punish those who oppose their mission or fail to grasp the essence of constitutional Ram Rajya. The head priest of Chilkur Balaji Temple refused to associate with their agenda.
“They brutally assaulted my son Shri Rangarajan, who serves as Archaka of Shri Chilkur Balaji Deity. They inflicted blows on him in our residence in Chilkur, adjacent to the temple premises, on February 7,” Soundararajan stated.
He further mentioned that Rangarajan lodged a complaint with the police, who are currently probing the incident. “The police have been urged to thoroughly investigate and identify those who are supporting these aggressors, both directly and indirectly,” Soundararajan added.
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader Dasoju Sravan Kumar condemned the attack on the head priest of Chilkur Balaji Temple. He called for the Director General of Police to take swift and decisive action against the perpetrators.
“He is a respected scholar and a noble soul, who works tirelessly to uphold spiritual values, sanatana dharma, and social justice. Such a selfless and socially aware individual deserves utmost respect, not violence,” Sravan Kumar stated.
