Hyderabad, Feb 10 (NationPress) Telangana’s Minister for Industry and Information Technology D. Sridhar Babu has vehemently denounced the assault on Chilkur Balaji Temple head priest C. S. Rangarajan and emphasized that the government will not stand for anarchic groups exploiting Hinduism to propagate hatred and terror.
Describing the attack on the chief priest and temple administrator as a despicable act, he stated that the government will confront such vile behaviors with unwavering force.
“While the primary suspect is in police custody, this incident is not merely a crime; it's an affront to our values and beliefs! Using 'Rama Rajya' as a justification for violence is a grave insult to the teachings of Lord Ram. We refuse to allow anarchic elements to misuse Hinduism for spreading hatred and fear,” the minister shared on the social network X.
“To all devotees, citizens, police, and political factions: let’s unite against these forces of darkness and animosity. The government will respond decisively to such evildoing! Assaults on altruistic priests who uphold Dharma and serve the community are barbaric. We will not allow fear and intimidation to dominate. I assure you that the police are actively involved, and justice will soon prevail,” the minister continued.
Members of a group attempting to impose their interpretation of ‘Ram Rajya’ physically assaulted Rangarajan at his home adjacent to Chilkur Balaji Temple in Rangareddy district near Hyderabad on February 7.
The head priest filed a complaint with the Moinabad Police on Sunday. The police apprehended Veera Raghava Reddy and are searching for additional suspects.
According to Rangarajan’s complaint, approximately 20 individuals invaded his residence. Videos depicting the assault on the priest circulated widely on social media.
Chilkur Balaji Temple, commonly referred to as the ‘Visa Balaji Temple’, is a prominent shrine located in Chilkur within the Moinabad mandal near Hyderabad. It is particularly favored by devotees seeking opportunities abroad for education and employment.
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K. T. Rama Rao condemned the attack on Rangarajan on Monday. He, along with other leaders, visited the chief priest to convey their support.
In the meantime, Rangarajan expressed gratitude to all devotees, well-wishers, and politicians, regardless of their political affiliations, who voiced their concern. “The police are fulfilling their duties in accordance with the law. Our focus remains on completing the sacred mission,” he posted on X.
