The incident, which took place during the Khati community's Rath Yatra, incited anger and resulted in a demonstration outside Kharakuan police station by members of the Muslim community, who demanded prompt action.
"A case has been filed against unidentified individuals after an object was allegedly thrown at a religious location by anti-social elements late Friday night. Authorities are currently examining CCTV footage from the vicinity to identify the offenders," stated Ujjain Superintendent of Police (SP) Pradeep Sharma's office on X.
As reported, two distinct Rath Yatras took place in the city—one organized by the ISKCON temple and the other by the Khati community, which commenced from Jagdish Mandir on Dhaba Road.
The latter procession was passing through the Gopal Mandir area when, as captured in the viral video (IANS does not confirm it), three slippers were launched toward the Shahi Masjid.
