Srinagar, Aug 2 (NationPress) One terrorist was eliminated on Saturday in an ongoing confrontation between security forces and militants in the Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Authorities reported that following intelligence inputs regarding the presence of militants in the Akhal forest region, a coordinated Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was initiated by joint forces on Friday.
“A firefight between the joint forces and the concealed terrorists is underway, leading to the death of one terrorist so far in this active operation.
“The identity and further details of the deceased terrorist will be determined once the operation concludes,” officials stated.
Security forces have intensified their operations against militants in the interior regions, while the Indian Army remains on high alert along the Line of Control (LoC) in J&K.
The neutralization of three notorious Pakistani terrorists involved in the April 22 Pahalgam attack—which resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals—is part of the aggressive military strategies being executed by the joint forces.
On July 28, three notorious Pakistani terrorists, including LeT commander Suleman Shah and his associates Abu Hamza and Jibran Bhai, were killed in the elevated regions of Dachigam National Park near Mahadev mountain peak in the Harwan area of Srinagar. This operation was dubbed 'Operation Mahadev' by the Army.
In response to the Pahalgam terror incident, security forces are conducting anti-terror operations targeting armed militants, their over-ground workers (OGWs), and sympathizers in J&K.
Moreover, drug traffickers are under scrutiny as it is believed that the finances generated through hawala networks and drug smuggling contribute to sustaining terrorism in J&K.
The coordinated and intelligence-driven efforts of the joint forces aim to dismantle the entire ecosystem of terrorism in J&K, rather than solely focusing on the neutralization of armed militants.
