Jammu, July 16 (NationPress) The Director General of Police (DGP) of Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat, announced on Wednesday that the terrorist eliminated last month in Udhampur district was the topmost commander of the Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) group.
During his visit to the Akhnoor police station in Jammu district, the DGP praised the personnel for being honored with the prestigious ‘Award of Excellence’ from the Ministry of Home Affairs, recognizing their exceptional performance in the annual ranking of police stations in J-K for 2024.
While presenting the award, the DGP commended the officers and staff for their strong relationship with the community and stated that the successful operation in the Akhnoor sector earlier this year was made possible by timely information from the public.
He encouraged the current SHO and SDPO to continue this legacy and applauded the remarkable achievements of the former SHO, Tariq Ahmed, SDPO, Mohan Sharma, and SP, Brijesh Sharma, for their outstanding leadership and commitment in 2024.
Nalin Prabhat informed the media that security forces are actively pursuing operations against terrorists.
“Anti-terror operations are ongoing, and we have achieved significant success in Dudu-Basantgarh, where a senior and prominent JeM commander, active in that region for the last four years, was neutralized,” he stated.
“Our operations will continue, and we will systematically eliminate all terrorists,” the police chief asserted.
On June 26, JeM terrorist Haider, known as Maulvi, from Pakistan, was killed in a confrontation while three of his companions escaped due to adverse weather conditions, difficult terrain, and dense forests in the Basantgarh area.
“Success for the police relies heavily on public support. This collaboration simplifies even the most challenging tasks; without it, we face significant obstacles,” he remarked, appreciating the Jammu police for their commendable efforts against drug trafficking, bovine smuggling, and gang-related activities.
