Mumbai, July 5 (NationPress) Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray declared on Saturday that the collaboration with his estranged brother and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) head on safeguarding the Marathi language, Marathi Manoos, and Maharashtra while resisting the enforcement of Hindi is merely the beginning. He affirmed their commitment to stay united in the future to fulfill Balasaheb Thackeray’s vision for Maharashtra.
During a joint victory rally organized by Shiv Sena UBT and MNS in the presence of Raj Thackeray to celebrate the state government's decision to retract the introduction of Hindi alongside Marathi in schools, Uddhav Thackeray stated, “The rift between us was bridged by Anaji Pant (referring to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis). I no longer anticipate division. We have united to co-exist,” he proclaimed amidst resounding applause and chants from Shiv Sainiks and MNS supporters.
He further asserted that the imposition of Hindi in the state would be met with strong resistance.
Uddhav Thackeray launched a fierce critique of the BJP, accusing it of exploiting its allies for its own benefit and stated that he and his brother Raj would now work to remove it from power in Maharashtra.
“My father battled against this duplicity, and we have united for him. The BJP’s strategy is to use and discard. Now, we will collectively remove you from power. If it weren't for Balasaheb Thackeray's support, where would you stand?” he questioned. He also rebuked the BJP for charging him with abandoning Hindutva, asserting that he has neither forsaken Hindutva nor his determination to advocate for Marathi pride.
“Hindutva does not belong to any single language. Those of us who speak genuine Marathi are more devoted Hindus than you are,” he challenged.
Uddhav Thackeray emphasized that while he was Chief Minister, the Marathi language was made mandatory and the construction of Marathi Bhabha Bhavan was initiated, which he claimed was later revoked by the Fadnavis-led administration.
In response to CM Fadnavis’ warning against 'hooliganism in the name of Marathi,' Uddhav Thackeray remarked, “If a Marathi individual in Maharashtra seeks justice and is labeled a thug, then we accept that title. Mumbai belongs to us; we fought for it and claimed it. We supported the removal of Article 370 in Kashmir. We do not impose Hindi. However, any opposition to Marathi in the state will be met with a response,” he asserted.
He also mocked BJP and Shiv Sena, stating, “Some claim that his M is not Marathi, but the M of the Municipal Corporation. For us, M stands for Maharashtra.”
“Power may rise and fall, but unity is our strength,” he concluded.
He condemned the BJP for its 'batenge To katenge' slogan during elections and accused it of fostering division among the Marathi populace.
