Is the Reunion of Thackeray Brothers a Turning Point for Marathi Manoos' Welfare?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Dec 25 (NationPress) The Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray on Thursday asserted that although numerous alliances and coalitions have emerged in the politics of both the state and the nation, the partnership between Shiv Sena(UBT), headed by Uddhav Thackeray, and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), initiated by Raj Thackeray, is poised to be historic, transformative, and a robust support for the Marathi Manoos.
The party emphasized that the reunion of the Thackeray siblings is a “good omen” for Maharashtra in overcoming those viewed as “traitors to the state”.
In an editorial published in its mouthpiece, Saamana, the party remarked that the BJP and the Shinde faction claim they are “not afraid” of the united Thackeray front; however, this assertion conceals profound internal trepidation. The message from the alliance is unequivocal -- Maharashtra is now ready to rise in resistance; the Marathi man will oppose injustice and strive for victory.
Following the official reunion of the Thackeray cousins for the elections to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and other civic bodies in Maharashtra, the Thackeray faction asserted that this is not merely a political transaction, but a sacred commitment to safeguard the interests of the Marathi people.
The Thackeray camp launched pointed critiques against the Central government and the current state leadership, alleging that “Delhi” has enacted policies aimed at systematically undermining the Marathi Manoos through the abuse of power. They accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena of functioning as “servants of Delhi”, remaining passive witnesses to an economic and cultural “invasion” of Maharashtra.
The editorial indicated that the alliance also intends to counteract a perceived conspiracy by “outsiders” and affluent businessmen to sever Mumbai from Maharashtra. It elaborated that the Thackeray brothers have united at a time when valuable real estate from Panvel and Thane to Raigad and Alibaug has been appropriated by associates of the “Shah company”.
“The ruling BJP perceives Mumbai solely as a target for ‘loot’ and auctioning, favoring builders over the local Marathi populace. The future of Mumbai is imperiled in the hands of those who seek to link it to Gujarat. The original Shiv Sena was dismantled because it acted as a bulwark against efforts to merge Mumbai’s interests with Gujarat,” it added.
As per the editorial, the Thackeray brothers have united with a willingness for sacrifice to defend Mumbai, underscoring a perceived decline of Maharashtra's influence in national politics. It further cautioned against a conspiracy by “outsiders” to isolate Mumbai from Maharashtra, reiterating that the BJP lacks any emotional bond to an undivided Maharashtra and merely views Mumbai as a source of plunder.
The Thackeray camp strongly rationalized the alliance between Shiv Sena(UBT) and MNS, asserting that it emerged amid a “historical fear in Delhi” regarding the courage and political acumen of the Marathi populace, who once raised their flag beyond Attock.
