Mumbai, July 5 (NationPress) The founder of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), Raj Thackeray, emphatically declared on Saturday that there will be no compromise regarding the Marathi language, Marathi Manoos, and the essence of Maharashtra.
During a collaborative rally held by Shiv Sena (UBT) and MNS to commemorate the MahaYuti government’s decision to retract the introduction of Hindi in state education from Grade 1, Thackeray urged both Shiv Sainiks and Mansainiks to remain united moving forward.
He cautioned that while the Maharashtra government has retreated on the Hindi imposition due to substantial backlash, attempts could still be made to create divisions based on caste.
Raj Thackeray stated, “Maharashtra transcends any conflict or disagreement. What Balasaheb Thackeray could not achieve, what many others couldn't either... has been accomplished by Devendra Fadnavis.”
“The question of introducing Hindi alongside Marathi and English was entirely unnecessary. Why was Hindi even considered? Who is it intended for? Forcing it upon young children is unwarranted. There was no consultation with education experts. This decision stemmed from a quest for power. If you (BJP-led MahaYuti) wield power, it resides in the Vidhan Bhavan. Our strength lies in the streets,” he emphasized, reiterating that the enforcement of Hindi will not be accepted.
“Where did this three-language policy originate? It was solely a directive from the central government. Today, in both the High Court and the Supreme Court, everything is conducted in English. This isn't the case in any other state. Why target Maharashtra specifically? When Maharashtra awakens, the consequences will be significant,” he warned.
Raj Thackeray staunchly defended those who oppose Hindi imposition but advised against resorting to violence. He urged pro-Marathi supporters to respond to anti-Marathi sentiments without resorting to vindictive acts.
“With all the media present, everything will unfold today. What do you anticipate? Was there a change in their demeanor? Were they less engaged in conversation? Many are more concerned with trivialities. This gathering today has a singular focus: Marathi is our agenda,” Thackeray stated.
He also mocked the BJP and its allies, questioning their commitment to Marathi when their children are enrolled in English-medium schools.
He reminded the audience that even Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray and his father, Shrikant Thackeray, completed their education in English, yet their love and pride for Marathi remain unquestionable.
