Mumbai, Oct 27 (NationPress) In the midst of allegations surrounding vote theft and discrepancies in electoral rolls, Shiv Sena UBT leader Uddhav Thackeray declared on Monday that a legal case will be initiated against the Election Commissioner once there is a shift in the central government.
During a forceful address at the party’s Nirdhar meeting leading up to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections, Thackeray voiced strong criticism of the Election Commission for the irregularities found in voter lists both in Maharashtra and nationwide, particularly concerning the presence of bogus voters.
“The law treats everyone equally. If an individual commits a crime and faces legal consequences, then the Election Commissioner should also face punishment. There is still time before the next Lok Sabha elections. Once we are in power, we will file a case against the Election Commissioner and bring him to justice,” he cautioned.
“Concerns about EVM tampering still linger; these fears have not dissipated. The Election Commission has recently stated that VVPAT will not be utilized in the local and civic body elections in Maharashtra. If this is the case, why proceed with the elections? Bogus voters may cast their votes freely, and the Election Commission will make decisions at will? And if we take action, will the law be enforced against us? Therefore, I assert that a case should also be launched against the Election Commissioner, who must face accountability,” Thackeray emphasized.
He further stated, “I urge the Election Commission once more: you cannot conduct elections without rectifying these errors.”
Thackeray hinted at a potential partnership between Shiv Sena UBT and Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena for the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections.
“With elections approaching, they will bring up the Hindu-Muslim issue. We engage in conflicts. During these times, they (the BJP) seize votes. When they politicize the Hindu-Muslim divide, we must recognize that elections are imminent,” he remarked.
He also called on party members to meticulously review the electoral rolls, examining them booth by booth.
