New Delhi, June 10 (NationPress) Congress MP Shashi Tharoor took to his X handle to share his thoughts on the multi-party delegation’s diplomatic journey, expressing his appreciation for the chance to serve the nation and addressing Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He reshared the Prime Minister’s update regarding his meeting with the delegation, stating, "We are all thankful for the chance to be of service to the nation, Pradhan Mantriji Narendra Modi. Jai Hind."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed members of various delegations at his official residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, after their diplomatic missions representing India abroad.

Previously, he had shared a message from #TharoorSoulOfIndia, where Tharoor underlined the diversity present in the delegation.

The group comprised seven MPs from five distinct political parties representing seven states, including two ambassadors—one current and one former—who had served in Washington.

Tharoor pointed out that their representation cut across eight states and three religious backgrounds, a crucial detail he highlighted to draw attention to the alarming nature of the Pahalgam terror attack.

He recounted how the terrorists targeted victims based on religion before executing them, ensuring that survivors would spread their message.

Tharoor shared a chilling moment where a woman, having witnessed her husband’s brutal murder, begged to be shot as well.

The attackers declined, instructing her to return and relay their message, thus reinforcing their act of terror.

NCP leader Supriya Sule expressed her gratitude for the Prime Minister’s confidence in the delegation, recognizing the duty of conveying India's strong opposition to terrorism and its dedication to unity and integrity.

Shiv Sena MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde elaborated on his delegation’s diplomatic endeavors in the UAE, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sierra Leone, and Liberia.

He noted how these nations ardently supported India’s battle against terrorism and its commitment to global peace. Prime Minister Modi commended their efforts and shared his vision for India's escalating stature on the global platform, motivating them to persist in their work.

Shinde stressed how the delegation effectively communicated India’s zero-tolerance policy on terrorism, which garnered support from the international community and the Indian diaspora.

The meeting reinforced India’s proactive role in shaping global security discussions following Operation Sindoor, initiated in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam.

This operation included precision strikes on terror hubs in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

In conjunction with this, seven delegations visited 33 countries to advocate for India’s counterterrorism initiatives and expose Pakistan’s support for extremist factions.

Their outreach, which received accolades from the central government, demonstrated a bipartisan effort, including members from the BJP, JD-U, Shiv Sena, Congress, DMK, NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), and AIMIM.

Prominent figures contributing to this diplomatic mission included former Union ministers Ghulam Nabi Azad and Salman Khurshid, highlighting the bipartisan essence of India's global engagement.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar praised the delegation’s efforts in articulating India’s position, emphasizing the necessity of continued diplomatic engagement to counter misinformation and bolster India's credibility.
