Mumbai, Sep 30 (NationPress) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday accused the Congress of trying to provoke riots through what it termed as "intentionally disruptive" statements and social media activity.
This accusation came after the Mumbai Police lodged an FIR against an unidentified individual following a complaint by the Maharashtra BJP regarding a Congress social media post that illustrated a BJP office engulfed in flames during protests.
BJP MLA Ram Kadam expressed that the opposition is undermining the peace and social fabric of the state.
"Just as riots and arson occurred in Nepal, look at the statements emitted by the Congress party and the opposition during that period. The tranquil environment and social harmony are being willfully disrupted by Congress leaders," he stated.
Questioning the purpose behind the Congress post, he remarked, "Why depict images of our BJP office ablaze on their social media? Who are they inciting, and what is their intention? Do they wish to spark riots? Is Congress against the notion of peaceful living?"
The FIR was filed by Maharashtra BJP Social Media Cell Coordinator Prakash Gade at the Marine Drive Police Station under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for allegedly attempting to incite violence.
The controversial post from Maharashtra Congress featured a BJP office set aflame, connecting it to protests in Ladakh, Uttarakhand, and Bihar, and referenced recent demonstrations in Leh where citizens are seeking statehood and inclusion under the Sixth Schedule.
"The BJP should not disregard the people's end. Otherwise, just as the Gen Z in Leh ignited the BJP office, similar upheaval could unfold nationwide," claimed the post.
In response to the issue, BJP national spokesperson Aniket Nikam shared the FIR on X, stating, "This is a direct warning to those trying to disrupt the peace in this state… 'BJP worker stands with Maharashtra'."
This political dispute arises amidst various protest movements across the nation. Ladakh has been experiencing intense demonstrations for statehood and Sixth Schedule inclusion, Uttarakhand has faced significant unrest over paper leak incidents, and in Bihar, the Congress is rallying citizens through its Voter Adhikar Yatra.
In light of these events, BJP leaders assert that the Congress party, rather than advocating for peace, is using provocative strategies that could escalate tensions.
