Nestled in nature's embrace, this divine land is currently witnessing a new wave of progress across various sectors, especially tourism.” He expressed his hopes for the “happiness, prosperity, fortune, and robust health of the humble, diligent, and divine-like residents of Uttarakhand.”
Uttarakhand, often known as Devbhoomi (the land of Gods), was formed from Uttar Pradesh on November 9, 2000, becoming the 27th state of India. As it commemorates its silver jubilee, leaders from across the nation have shared their greetings and reflected on the state’s evolution from challenges to development.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami described the day on X as a “silver jubilee of struggle, values, and dedication.” He honored former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, under whose leadership the state was formed, remarking, “His vision and compassionate leadership granted Devbhoomi a new identity.”
Highlighting the accomplishments of the “double-engine government,” Dhami stated that Uttarakhand has achieved “significant advancements in connectivity, infrastructure, industry, tourism, education, health, and women's empowerment.”
He emphasized the state’s development model that harmonizes “environmental conservation and progress,” placing Uttarakhand among the leading states in the Sustainable Development Goals Index.
Dhami also pointed out the success of government tourism initiatives like the Char Dham Yatra, Kanwar Yatra, and temple redevelopment projects, which have provided the state with “a new identity.” He noted that record industrial investments totaling Rs 3.5 lakh crore had been secured, with over Rs 1 lakh crore already realized.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also extended his best wishes on X, stating, “Heartfelt congratulations to the people of Uttarakhand on the Foundation Day of this sacred land rich in mythological traditions. Under the guidance of Prime Minister @narendramodi ji and the leadership of Chief Minister @pushkardhami ji, this state is becoming empowered, secure, and prosperous.” He offered a prayer to Baba Kedarnath for the “Crown Jewel of India” to continue its progress.
As Uttarakhand celebrates 25 years since its formation, this day serves as a tribute to its journey from a people's movement to a model of balanced development, faith, and modernity.
