Jaipur, April 16 (NationPress) In a devastating event near the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve, a seven-year-old boy tragically lost his life during a tiger attack while he was returning from a trip to the Trinetra Ganesh temple with his grandmother on Wednesday.
The victim, identified as Kartik Suman, son of Dwarka Mali, from Gohta village under the Dei Kheda police station (Bundi), was attacked in the Amarai forest area.
Witnesses reported that the tiger suddenly appeared from the forest and seized Kartik by the head, dragging him away in front of numerous onlookers. The animal allegedly lingered in the forest for an extended period, resting its paw on the child's neck.
This alarming incident has caused widespread panic in the vicinity. Local residents hurried to notify the authorities at Ganesh Dham Chowki. Upon receiving the distress call, Forest Department officials arrived promptly and sealed off all access routes to the Trinetra Ganesh temple.
After significant efforts, officials were able to drive the tiger away and recover Kartik's body, which was subsequently transported to the district hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Kartik’s uncle, Deepak, who was part of the temple group, shared the harrowing experience.
“We were five individuals - Kartik, his grandmother, and others from our village. As we were descending after the temple visit, a tiger suddenly emerged, snatched Kartik from our group, and vanished into the forest. We cried out for help, but it was too late,” Deepak recounted.
Another local witness stated: “I was heading back after visiting the temple around 3 PM when I noticed a woman ahead with her grandson. Out of nowhere, a tiger dashed from the forest and seized the child. Panic ensued among the devotees following the attack.”
Forest officials suspect that the attack might have been executed by Tiger T-120, which had been sighted in the Amarai area over the last couple of days.
The prior sightings and movements of this tiger had raised alarms regarding the safety of visitors in the area.
The Forest Department is anticipated to conduct further investigations and implement necessary safety protocols to avert such tragic occurrences in the future.
