Chennai, May 17 (NationPress) Tamil Nadu's Excise Minister S. Muthusamy on Saturday criticized the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for allegedly troubling state officials under the guise of probing an alleged scandal involving the state-run liquor retailer TASMAC, claiming that it breaches the protocols established by the Supreme Court.
In a forceful statement, Muthusamy, who also oversees Housing and Prohibition portfolios, denounced what he characterized as “politically motivated actions” by the ED and pledged full legal backing to the officials facing scrutiny.
He emphasized the government's unwavering support for its employees and the intent to pursue all necessary legal avenues against what he termed “vendetta-driven actions.”
The Minister accused the ED of conducting raids at TASMAC's headquarters and additional sites to falsely depict misconduct during the DMK administration.

“On May 16, the ED carried out searches at the residence of TASMAC Managing Director S. Visakan and others. These raids also resulted in no evidence, yet the harassment persists,” the minister asserted.
He went on to allege that the agency was pressuring officials, although he did not elaborate.
Muthusamy referred to previous searches at TASMAC's headquarters in March and on May 16 at various other locations, asserting that the ED's conduct contravenes the guidelines established by the Supreme Court in several cases concerning the agency's operations.
