Chennai, June 11 (NationPress) In a significant overhaul within the Tamil Nadu Police, the state government has announced transfer and posting orders for 18 officers, including several IPS officers, along with promotions for three to senior ranks. A key highlight is the reinstatement of DIG-rank officer D. Magesh Kumar, whose suspension stemming from sexual harassment allegations has been recently lifted.
D. Magesh Kumar, who was previously under the Vacancy Reserve (VR) at police headquarters following his suspension in February, is now appointed as the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Coastal Security Group in Chennai.
He takes over from R. Jayanthi, who has been reassigned to the role of DIG for Technical Services in Chennai.
Prior to his suspension, Magesh Kumar was serving as the Joint Commissioner of Police (North) within the Greater Chennai Police. His suspension was triggered by allegations from a woman traffic constable accusing him of sexual and physical harassment. Following the complaint, Tamil Nadu DGP Shankar Jiwal initiated disciplinary proceedings, leading to his suspension. However, the suspension was revoked in April 2025 after an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) found him not guilty of the charges.
Other significant appointments include M.R. Sibi Chakravarthi, formerly DIG/Joint Commissioner of Police for the South Zone in Greater Chennai, who is now the DIG and Chief Vigilance Officer at Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Limited in Chennai.
