Kolkata, July 10 (NationPress) Chief Minister Omar Abdullah stated on Thursday that despite the challenges posed by the Pahalgam terror attack in 2025, the tourism industry in Jammu and Kashmir is on the path to recovery.
He acknowledged that visitors have concerns regarding the horrific Pahalgam massacre, but he assured that all essential measures have been put in place to guarantee the safety and security of tourists in the region.
His assurance could be confirmed by the tourists who recently visited and left Pahalgam.
CM Abdullah highlighted that there has been a significant rise in the number of flights to Jammu and Kashmir, particularly for the current Amarnath Yatra.
While addressing a travel and tourism event, Omar Abdullah praised the Mamata government and the people of West Bengal for their unwavering support towards the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
"The people of West Bengal have always stood by us. Our relationship is deep-rooted in trust and affection. West Bengal has consistently supported Jammu and Kashmir both politically and economically," he remarked.
Later, CM Abdullah is set to meet with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the Nabanna state secretariat.
Following the Pahalgam tragedy, the Trinamool Congress dispatched a five-member delegation to Jammu and Kashmir to assess the situation, during which they also met Omar Abdullah at his official residence.
He expressed gratitude towards Mamata Banerjee for her decision to send a party delegation to Jammu and Kashmir after the Pahalgam attack.
At least 26 individuals lost their lives in the Pahalgam terror attack carried out by The Resistance Front (TRF), a faction of Lashkar-e-Taiba.
In this heinous act, the terrorists targeted individuals based on their religion.
