The vehicle, en route to Visakhapatnam from Sonepur in Odisha, struck a parked van.
This unfortunate event occurred as a patient named Balaiah was being transported from Sonepur to Visakhapatnam for medical treatment. Both he and a companion lost their lives, while five others were injured.
The injured parties were taken to the government hospital in Tekkali. Due to the critical condition of one of the injured, he was subsequently transferred to Srikakulam.
Law enforcement has opened a case and is conducting further inquiries.
In a separate incident, nine individuals were injured in a collision between an RTC bus and a truck in the Sri Sathya Sai district of Andhra Pradesh.
This accident unfolded on the national highway near Gutturu in Penukonda Mandal when a truck crashed into an Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) bus, which was traveling from Hindupur to Dharmapuram, while the truck was heading to Bengaluru.
All those injured were taken to the government hospital in Penukonda. The bus conductor, who suffered serious injuries, was moved to Anantapur after receiving initial care at Penukonda hospital.
Upon learning of the incident, the state minister for backward classes welfare, S. Savitha, visited the hospital and met with the injured, urging medical staff to provide the best available treatment.
Additionally, a car caught fire in Vijayawada on Saturday night, but fortunately, there were no casualties.
According to authorities, the car erupted in flames near the Anjaneyaswamy temple shortly after midnight. Firefighters quickly responded to the scene and extinguished the blaze.
