Amaravati, Jan 17 (NationPress) Four individuals lost their lives and 25 others sustained injuries when a bus, carrying them, collided with a stationary truck close to Chittoor town in Andhra Pradesh early Friday morning.
The incident took place near Gangasagaram when a private travel bus crashed into a tipper truck parked at the roadside.
The bus, operated by Sri Renganathan Travels, overturned following the impact. Four passengers were pronounced dead at the scene while 22 others suffered injuries.
Authorities quickly arrived at the location to rescue passengers trapped inside the bus. The injured were transported to CMC Vellore and Naruvi Hospital in the neighboring Tamil Nadu via the 108 ambulance service.
The condition of several injured passengers is reported to be critical.
The bus was on its way to Madurai from Tirupati, carrying a total of 40 passengers.
This accident caused a significant traffic jam on National Highway 40. A crane was utilized to remove the bus from the scene of the accident.
As per officials, a group of devotees were returning to Madurai by private bus after offering prayers at the Sri Venkateswara temple in Tirumala.
Andhra Pradesh State Transport Minister Ramprasad Reddy expressed his sorrow over the road accident near Chittoor, extending his condolences to the families affected by the tragedy.
The Transport Minister instructed health department officials to guarantee the best possible medical care for the injured.
Ramprasad Reddy urged the public to be vigilant while traveling to avert road accidents.
In a separate incident, a woman and her three-year-old daughter died in a road accident in Hyderabad. The mishap occurred in Bandlaguda when a truck struck a motorbike. Rukhsana Begum, who was riding pillion with her daughter, was killed instantly. The man riding the bike and his son were injured. Police responded swiftly, taking the injured to the hospital. The bodies were sent to Osmania Hospital for autopsy, and a police investigation is underway.
