Jaipur, June 13 (NationPress) Jaiprakash Choudhary (20), a second-year MBBS student from Bor Charanan village in Barmer district’s Dhorimanna sub-division of Rajasthan, was one of the victims of the devastating plane crash in Ahmedabad on Thursday.
His body, which suffered nearly 30 percent burns, was located among the wreckage near the kitchen area of the BJ Medical College hostel, where he was staying at the time.
According to his nephew Mangalaram, Jaiprakash had spoken to his family just moments before the crash. “He called around 1 p.m. to inform us he was on his way to the mess for lunch. His phone battery was low, and shortly after, the call was disconnected,” he shared.
The mourning family arrived in Ahmedabad late Thursday night. His remains were handed over to them on Friday afternoon. The body is expected to arrive in Barmer by the evening for cremation in his native village.
Jaiprakash was enrolled in the MBBS program at BJ Medical College and resided in the hostel. The Air India flight, which was headed for Gatwick Airport in London, tragically crashed just two minutes after takeoff from Ahmedabad, near the City Civil Hospital and BJ Medical College hostel in Meghaninagar.
Omji Poonia, a neighbor, stated, “At around 1 p.m. on Thursday, I was in conversation with his family when Jaiprakash indicated he was going to the mess. That was the last time we heard from him,” he said.
Sunita Choudhary, daughter of former minister Hemaram Choudhary, expressed her condolences on Facebook. “Upon hearing the news, I reached out to doctors at the Ahmedabad hospital and requested urgent attention for Jaiprakash. I am in Ahmedabad personally overseeing the situation,” she posted.
