Bengaluru, June 13 (NationPress) Friends of Prateek Joshi, who tragically lost his life along with his wife and three children in the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad, have expressed profound sorrow over this devastating incident. They fondly reminisced about the cherished moments spent with him in Belagavi, Karnataka.
Classmates of Joshi described him as a cheerful and warm-hearted individual, beloved by all his peers.
Originally from Rajasthan, Prateek completed his MBBS at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC) in Belagavi.
Prashanth Basutkar, who currently resides in Yadgir, shared, "Prateek was not just a classmate; he was my benchmate and a close friend. We spent five years studying together and secured our postings simultaneously."
"I often helped Prateek, and he reciprocated in kind. He was truly a gem of a person—humble and noble. It is heartbreaking that everything ended with this flight tragedy. The onboard photo of their family is profoundly touching. Prateek had been working in the UK for five years as a Radiologist, while his wife worked in Udaipur," Basutkar continued.
"Prateek had dreams of settling down in the UK with his family, and it appears he had even purchased a house in London. Their entire family wished to relocate there. It’s impossible to articulate the pain we feel; even minor burns are agonizing, and these young children must have suffered immensely during the tragedy," he added.
Another classmate expressed, "Imagining the suffering of those innocent children is unbearable. It deeply saddens us that such a tragedy befell our classmate. His entire family is gone, and I pray for the strength of his parents to endure this loss."
"Prateek remained connected through a WhatsApp group with common friends, always exuding warmth and kindness. We were looking forward to a 25th-year reunion in September, hoping he would join us, but now that is impossible," another classmate lamented.
"The shock we are all experiencing is profound. Accepting this reality is a challenge. It is incredibly tragic that Prateek’s life ended this way, along with his family. Those on the plane had numerous future plans, and it is heartbreaking to see their lives cut short in such a manner," she reflected.
N. S. Mahantshetti, Principal of JNMC, expressed that this tragedy is indeed unfortunate.
Prateek attended JNMC from 2000 to 2005 and later specialized in radiology at Kolar Medical College.
He had traveled to Udaipur to bring his family to London.
Prateek was on the flight with his wife Komi Vyas, eight-year-old daughter Miraya, and five-year-old twin sons Nakul and Pradyut when the tragedy unfolded.
