Chandigarh, Aug 21 (NationPress) The family of 19-year-old playschool teacher Manisha, who was discovered deceased in a field eight days prior with a reported cut mark on her throat, was cremated on Thursday in her village located in Bhiwani district of Haryana, under strict police supervision.
Following earlier autopsies in Bhiwani and Rohtak, a third post-mortem was conducted at AIIMS Delhi on Wednesday due to the family's and villagers' concerns regarding the findings.
The victim's grandfather, Ram Kishan, expressed that the family felt satisfied with the actions taken by the government and that their demands had been fulfilled.
After the examination at AIIMS, the body was held at the Civil Hospital in Bhiwani before being transported back to the village for the final rites, all while security measures were in place.
As a precaution, internet services in Bhiwani and Charkhi Dadri districts have been suspended until 11 a.m. on Friday.
Earlier, residents of Dhani Laxman village submitted a memorandum to Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Manoj Kumar, requesting the government to conduct an autopsy at AIIMS and to transfer the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
In light of the public outcry, particularly after the victim's father rejected the police's investigation and suggested suicide, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini proposed a CBI inquiry to ensure 'full justice.'
“Based on the family’s demand, we will ensure complete justice through a CBI investigation,” the Chief Minister stated.
He assured that the government is committed to transparency in seeking justice for Manisha and her family.
According to police reports, the victim had mentioned in a suicide note that her parents were disappointed with her.
However, the family accused the police of delaying the filing of a complaint in this case. Villagers vehemently rejected the police's 'suicide' narrative and initiated an indefinite sit-in to demand a CBI inquiry.
Manisha had gone missing from her school in Singhani village of Bhiwani on August 11, with her body discovered near a canal two days later. Her father, Sanjay, insisted that his daughter could not have taken her own life.
Earlier, Chief Minister Saini ordered the transfer of the Superintendent of Police and five officers for their alleged negligence in addressing this case.
The investigation took a turn when police began exploring the suicide angle, claiming to have retrieved a handwritten suicide note.
They also alleged that Manisha purchased insecticide on August 11, a claim that the family and villagers disputed, demanding a CBI inquiry.
