Chandigarh, Aug 20 (NationPress) In light of rising tensions across two districts in Haryana following the tragic death of a 19-year-old playschool teacher, whose lifeless body was discovered in a field, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced on Wednesday that the investigation will be entrusted to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a quest for “complete justice”.
“The state government and law enforcement are dedicated to ensuring justice for our daughter Manisha from Bhiwani and her family. I am personally overseeing the developments in this case,” the Chief Minister expressed on X.
“Responding to the family’s request, the Haryana government will transfer this case to the CBI for a thorough investigation. We will guarantee that justice is served in this matter,” he added.
After the police dismissed the possibility of foul play based on the autopsy findings, district officials engaged with a committee formed by local villagers to negotiate on behalf of the victim’s family, leading to an agreement to cremate the woman’s body on Tuesday.
According to law enforcement, the victim mentioned in her suicide note that her parents were displeased with her. However, her family accused the police of delaying the registration of a complaint regarding the case.
Residents from the victim’s hometown refuted the police’s “suicide” narrative and initiated an indefinite sit-in protest, demanding a CBI inquiry.
As a precautionary measure, the government suspended mobile Internet, bulk SMS, and dongle services in the Bhiwani and Charkhi Dadri districts for 48 hours.
Manisha was reported missing from her school in Singhani village, Bhiwani, on August 11. Two days later, her body was discovered near a canal. Initially, the police suspected foul play and lodged a first information report (FIR) under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Manisha’s father, Sanjay, asserted that his daughter would never take her own life. “The authorities claim she ended her life, but I cannot accept this. I seek justice,” he stated in a video message.
Earlier, Chief Minister Saini ordered the transfer of the Superintendent of Police along with five other officers linked to the case.
Bhiwani-Mahendergarh MP Dharambir Singh met with the family and acknowledged police shortcomings, vowing quick arrests and action against negligent personnel.
