Chandigarh, Aug 16 (NationPress) In light of the recent rise in crime across Haryana, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini emphasized on Saturday that ensuring law and order is the government's foremost concern. He issued a strict warning to drug networks and committed to taking decisive action against wrongdoers.
"We are determined to dismantle the operations of drug traffickers," he stated during a press briefing.
This declaration on law and order comes in the wake of the shocking murder of Manisha, a private play school teacher, whose lifeless body was discovered with her throat cut in the fields of Singhani village in the Bhiwani district.
In a striking move, her family and community members demanded justice, refusing to conduct her last rites until the perpetrators are apprehended and the police officials accused of negligence are held accountable.
Reacting to the heinous crime, Chief Minister Saini on Friday transferred the Superintendent of Police Manbir Singh from Bhiwani, replacing him with IPS Sumit Kumar from the 2014 batch. Additionally, the concerned Station House Officer (SHO), one Assistant Sub-Inspector, and three other police personnel faced suspension.
"No individual, regardless of their stature, will evade justice if they act outside the law," asserted the Chief Minister.
He indicated that even stricter measures would be implemented moving forward.
"Anyone committing a crime will face the consequences. I urge police officials to prevent such occurrences in the future. All relevant officers must cultivate a law and order-friendly environment for the public in their jurisdictions," he instructed.
The CM also stressed that the safety of the state's residents is the government's top priority.
Following the tragic incident, Bhiwani-Mahendergarh MP Dharambir Singh visited the victim's family, acknowledged the police's shortcomings, and vowed to ensure prompt arrests and accountability for negligent officers.
Initial investigations suggest the victim was kidnapped, murdered elsewhere, and her body discarded in the fields, with her mobile phone still missing.
