The incident ignited public outrage as the victim's family alleged that she was raped prior to being cast from the rooftop by the perpetrators.
The suspects, named Raju and Veeru, lived in a rented accommodation within the Sikandrabad industrial area, sharing the same building as the victim's family. Authorities revealed that the young girl was playing on the terrace when she fell prey to the assailants. She was later found in a critically injured state in a nearby vacant plot.
Upon receiving a formal complaint from the victim’s father, the police established three specialized teams to locate the suspects. The confrontation unfolded in Kanwara after police received information about their location.
“When the police attempted to apprehend them in the industrial area, the accused initiated gunfire,” remarked Dr. Tejveer Singh, SP of Bulandshahr.
“In the ensuing exchange, both suspects were shot in the legs and were taken into custody before being transferred to a hospital for medical attention,” he continued.
During the operation, law enforcement recovered two pistols along with an assortment of live and spent cartridges from the suspects.
The victim was rushed to a local hospital immediately after her discovery, but unfortunately, medical staff pronounced her dead upon arrival. The police have sent her body for a post-mortem examination to investigate the allegations of sexual assault thoroughly.
“The father believes that the two men raped the child before throwing her from the rooftop,” added Dr. Singh.
“The suspects have reportedly admitted their involvement during preliminary interrogations. We are currently awaiting medical reports to incorporate relevant sections into the FIR, and further legal proceedings are in progress,” he stated.
In a separate incident on January 2, an 18-year-old woman was taken into custody for allegedly murdering a middle-aged man with a sharp weapon after he attempted to sexually assault her in Banda district of Uttar Pradesh, as confirmed by police.
Station House Officer (SHO) Rajendra Singh Rajawat mentioned that the body of Sukhraj Prajapati (50) was discovered in a residence, suffering from fatal head injuries inflicted by a sharp-edged weapon around 3:30 PM on Thursday.
Following a complaint from the victim's family, police initiated a murder investigation and apprehended the woman later that night, along with the weapon used, identified as a 'farsa', according to the SHO.
