“When officers tried to halt the car, the driver attempted to escape and fired at the police. In self-defense, the officers returned fire, injuring the suspect. He was promptly apprehended,” officials stated.
The accused has been identified as Kuldeep, also known as Gabbar, and is a resident of Farrukhabad, the police confirmed.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Alok Rajan Singh mentioned that various items were seized from the suspect, including ₹20,000 in cash, a vehicle, a homemade pistol, live ammunition, approximately 40 liters of stolen oil, and a mobile phone.
A legal case has been initiated against the suspect under applicable laws, and further judicial actions are in progress.
According to police, the suspect is associated with a gang that specializes in organized transformer oil theft and has multiple outstanding warrants against him.
ASP Singh noted that the injured suspect is currently receiving treatment and will be interrogated to uncover information about other gang members, leading to actions against the entire network.
This operation is part of a larger initiative directed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, with law enforcement agencies across various districts enhancing their efforts against criminal activities.
