Agartala, June 21 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, on Saturday encouraged the youth to adopt Yoga practices in this digital age.
Speaking at the state-level celebration of the 11th International Day of Yoga held at the International fair ground in Hapania, near the capital, he noted that young individuals are increasingly absorbed in the internet, leading to a diminishing interest in yoga.
“However, it is crucial for everyone to incorporate yoga into their daily routine. It plays a vital role in maintaining a stress-free life,” he emphasized.
Saha, a qualified dental surgeon himself, stated that daily yoga practice aids individuals in self-discovery, alleviates stress, and cultivates a healthy mind and body, which ultimately contributes to a fulfilling life.
He remarked that the 11th International Day of Yoga was celebrated with immense enthusiasm across Tripura on Saturday, sharing that Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed the observance of June 21 as International Day of Yoga at the United Nations on September 27, 2014.
This initiative garnered support from 177 countries, and since 2015, it has been recognized globally. He added that for centuries, yogis have practiced yoga, which allows individuals to gain profound self-understanding.
“Understanding oneself is a formidable challenge, and yoga facilitates this journey. Notably, yoga is now practiced worldwide, not just in India,” Saha noted.
“Every nation acknowledges the significance of yoga. The USA and China boast around 1.33 lakh yoga centers where it is widely practiced. Yoga serves as a reminder that a healthy mind and body foster a healthy life. Since assuming office, Prime Minister Modi has launched numerous welfare initiatives for the populace,” said the Chief Minister.
In his capacity as Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Saha expressed concern about the HIV/AIDS situation in Tripura, emphasizing the necessity for widespread awareness to combat it.
“When the virus infiltrates the body, it compromises immunity. Without adequate treatment, it may lead to dire consequences. We must unite to fight HIV/AIDS. Yoga also plays a beneficial role in this context by enhancing memory and promoting overall wellness,” he concluded.
