Tripura CM Saha orders 100-day plan to fast-track 158 investment proposals
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Wednesday directed senior officials to prepare a 100-day action plan to operationalise feasible projects from a pool of more than 158 investment proposals received following the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026. The Chief Minister instructed that Chief Secretary Jitendra Kumar Sinha would conduct monthly progress reviews to maximise investment and employment generation across the state.
What Saha Directed
Chairing a high-level departmental review meeting in Agartala, Chief Minister Saha instructed the Secretaries and Directors of various departments to set specific targets and ensure project implementation within defined timeframes. He also directed each department to appoint dedicated nodal officers to maintain regular communication with investors and resolve their concerns swiftly.
'The huge investment potential that has opened up in Tripura must be implemented quickly and transformed into employment and economic development. Each investment proposal must be implemented within a specific timeframe by setting specific targets,' Saha said at the meeting.
Scale of Commitments from Business Conclave 2026
At the meeting, Chief Minister Saha noted that 458 MoUs involving investments of more than ₹1.30 lakh crore were signed during the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026. Of these, concept notes and detailed proposals have been received for more than 158 projects, and the government's immediate focus is on grounding all viable ones.
Secretary to the Chief Minister and Secretary of the Industries and Commerce Department, Kiran Gitte, briefed the meeting on MoU progress and potential investment areas, including avenues to generate new opportunities by leveraging the state's own resources and existing infrastructure.
Priority Sectors Identified
Saha emphasised that Tripura should be positioned as a prominent investment destination, with priority given to sectors including tourism, health, education, skill development, information technology, renewable energy, agriculture and food processing, fish processing, dairy, livestock, and EV charging. He stressed the importance of developing value-added products by effectively utilising the state's natural and agricultural resources.
Key Bottlenecks to Be Cleared
The Chief Minister directed officials to resolve issues related to land, power, and infrastructure at the earliest to unblock project implementation. He also called for simplifying and streamlining administrative procedures, making them more transparent and investor-friendly, and ensuring stronger inter-departmental coordination throughout the investment lifecycle.
What Happens Next
With monthly reviews by the Chief Secretary now mandated and nodal officers to be appointed across departments, the government has put an institutional accountability structure around what has historically been the weakest link in Indian state investment drives — MoU follow-through. Tripura's ability to convert its ₹1.30 lakh crore conclave commitments into operational projects will be closely watched as a test of northeast India's investor-readiness.
