“Educators do more than just teach; they offer physical, mental, and emotional support to students. It's essential for them to cultivate individuals with strong moral values while continually improving their own skills,” he stated.
He further mentioned that, alongside the existing three older government universities and a Central university, several private universities are already operational, and more institutions are in the pipeline.
Moreover, in addition to the current 25 government degree colleges, the state will introduce three new colleges in Ambassa, Kakraban, and Karbook.
Emphasizing the significance of girls’ education, he announced plans for a new women’s university in the state.
Since the inception of the BJP government in 2018, over 19,800 government jobs have been created, including 5,215 positions for teachers and 125 for librarians.
As part of the National Education Policy-2020, the Chief Minister stated that there would be a significant enhancement in the monitoring of students' and teachers' performance, urging educators to transcend the typical syllabus and inspire students towards positive and innovative pursuits.
On June 23, Tripura achieved the distinction of becoming the third state in India to attain full literacy, trailing only Goa and Mizoram.
“With the successful implementation of the ULLAS (Understanding Lifelong Learning for All in Society) – New India Literacy Programme, Tripura's literacy rate has soared to 95.6 percent,” CM Saha noted.
He expressed pride in Tripura's recognition as a fully literate state.
“We are actively pursuing Nipun Tripura for child education development, and PM Shri Schools are being established. Additionally, initiatives like Saharsh promote education with enthusiasm,” CM Saha remarked, adding that a new assessment framework has been introduced to foster healthy competition among schools and identify areas for improvement.
He also stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the National Education Policy (NEP) is being implemented to initiate qualitative changes in the education system with a focus on India's cultural heritage.
During the event, the Chief Minister honored three exemplary teachers and social activists for their substantial contributions to education and creativity: Dr. Atul Debbarma, Pranati Debbarma, and Samir Chakraborty.
