Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced on Wednesday, 26 August that a month-long 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan' will be held across the state from 17 September to 17 October to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday, featuring a range of social and public-welfare programmes. The announcement was made at a key meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state committee in Agartala.

What the Campaign Entails

The Seva Sankalp Abhiyan will kick off on 17 September — the Prime Minister's birthday — and run for a full month. According to Chief Minister Saha, approximately 25 programmes have been planned across different parts of the state, including tree plantation drives, cleanliness campaigns, and drawing competitions for children. The campaign is designed to ensure broad participation, particularly from youth.

'Every year on this occasion, we celebrate it as the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan. Wednesday's meeting discussed how the government and the party will make this programme successful. This programme will be conducted from September 17 to October 17,' CM Saha said.

Outreach on Government Schemes

A key objective of the campaign will be to raise public awareness about the welfare and development initiatives of the Modi government at the Centre. Chief Minister Saha said the month-long drive would focus on ensuring that the benefits of people-oriented schemes reach intended beneficiaries — a continuation of outreach efforts the state has undertaken in previous years.

'Our goal is to reach the people with the benefits of people-oriented projects. And in these efforts, people must be kept by our side,' Saha said.

Building on Past Initiatives

The Chief Minister noted that similar outreach exercises had been conducted before, including two phases of a good governance programme aimed at reaching every household in the state. The Seva Sankalp Abhiyan follows that template, combining party mobilisation with public service delivery on the ground.

This is a recurring annual observance for the BJP in Tripura, with the scale and scope of activities expanding each year, according to Saha.

Who Was Present

The meeting was attended by State BJP President and MLA Abhishek Debroy, along with senior party leaders and state ministers. The gathering focused on coordinating both government machinery and party networks to ensure the campaign's success across Tripura's districts.

With preparations already under way, the state government and the BJP are expected to finalise the district-level programme schedules ahead of the 17 September launch.
