Mumbai, Feb 21 (NationPress) The Mumbai Crime Branch, in collaboration with Buldhana Police, arrested two suspects on Friday in relation to a threatening email directed at Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

The detainees, identified as Mangesh Wayal (35) and Abhay Shingane (22), reside in Deulgaon Mahi within the Deulgaon Raja taluka of Buldhana district. They are being transported to Mumbai for further questioning.

These individuals will be presented before a court to seek custody.

The inquiry was initiated after the Goregaon Police Station received a threatening email on Thursday, which warned of a bomb targeting Deputy CM Shinde’s vehicle. In response, an FIR was filed under Sections 351(3), 351(4), and 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Despite the threat, Deputy CM Shinde proceeded with his official obligations. He was present at the swearing-in ceremony of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday, joined by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and fellow Deputy CM Ajit Pawar. Subsequently, Shinde fulfilled additional public commitments as planned.

In response to the event, Shiv Sena spokesperson Kiran Hegde remarked, “These actions seem to stem from pranksters, but law enforcement should treat this matter with the utmost seriousness. It is vital to impose strict penalties to deter such offenders from making threats in the future. DCM Shinde remains a leader respected by many and is undeterred by such intimidation. He has served throughout various regions of the state, including Naxal-affected areas like Gadchiroli. However, these threats must be taken seriously by the authorities.”

This incident has sparked a political debate, with opposition figures raising concerns about the law and order situation in Maharashtra.

Nevertheless, officials have confirmed that all necessary security protocols are being enforced and that the investigation is advancing across multiple channels.
