Following persistent rain over the last two days, most rivers and mountain streams are swollen in the Jammu division. Additionally, there was significant snowfall in higher elevations of Jammu and Kashmir within the last 24 hours, while rain impacted the plains of the Jammu division.

Light snowfall was reported in Srinagar city and other areas of the valley over the last 12 hours. Gulmarg ski resort recorded 1.5 ft of new snowfall, while Zojila Pass, Gurez, and Razdan Pass saw 4 ft of fresh snowfall on the ground.

Authorities have closed the Srinagar-Jammu, Srinagar-Leh, and the Mughal road due to heavy rain and snow in the last 24 hours.

The Meteorological (MeT) office predicts that these weather conditions will persist on Friday. Meanwhile, the ‘Khelo India 2025-winter sports in Gulmarg’ event has been postponed due to insufficient snowfall in the ski resort. The recent snowfall on the slopes in Gulmarg suggests that winter sports announcements will be made shortly.
