Tragic Road Accident Claims Lives of Five Soldiers in J&K

Jammu, Dec 24 (NationPress) In a devastating road accident in J&K’s Poonch district, five soldiers lost their lives and five others sustained injuries on Tuesday, as per official reports.

An army vehicle, which was traveling from Nilam Headquarters to the Balnoi Ghora Post, encountered an accident upon reaching the Ghora Post.

According to officials, the vehicle plunged into a deep gorge estimated to be around 300-350 feet deep, leading to the immediate death of five soldiers and causing serious injuries to five other personnel. The vehicle was affiliated with the 11 MLA. Following a distress call, the quick reaction team (QRT) from 11 MLI promptly arrived at the scene to initiate rescue and relief efforts,” one official stated.

The injured soldiers were promptly transported to a hospital for medical attention, with some reported to be in critical condition, the official added.

The White Knight Corps of the army, stationed in Nagrota, expressed their condolences on X: “All ranks of #WhiteKnightCorps convey their heartfelt sympathy on the tragic loss of five courageous soldiers in a vehicle accident during their operational duties in the #Poonch sector. Ongoing rescue operations are in progress, and the injured personnel are receiving essential medical care.”

Furthermore, Northern Command chief Lt Gen M.V.SuchindraKumar and all personnel extended their deepest sympathies for the tragic loss of five brave soldiers.

“The Dhruva Command stands in solidarity with the grieving families during this difficult time,” it stated in a post on X.

The army has been on high alert along the Line of Control (LoC) following intelligence reports indicating that terrorists are poised at launch pads across the border, awaiting opportunities to infiltrate into Indian territory before heavy snowfall closes the mountain passes this year.
