Jaipur, March 14 (NationPress) In a shocking incident in Rajasthan's Udaipur district, two friends were brutally murdered with swords while a grocery shopkeeper who attempted to help was left critically wounded, according to police reports on Saturday.

The tragic events unfolded on Friday night in Sailana village located in the Jhadol area of the district.

As per police statements, Suresh (25), the son of Amrit Ahari, and Bhairulal (27), the son of Prabhulal Badgoja, both from Richhawar village, were riding their motorcycle to Sailana around 8 p.m. when they were ambushed by a group of assailants on motorcycles.

The attackers reportedly assaulted the two men with swords and other weapons, killing them instantly.

Sumit (30), the son of Rupji and a local grocery shopkeeper, heard the chaos and tried to intervene, but he too was attacked, sustaining critical injuries.

Nearby villagers rushed to the scene upon hearing the disturbance; however, the attackers had already escaped by the time they arrived.

The injured shopkeeper was transported to the Jhadol sub-district hospital via ambulance and later referred to Udaipur for advanced medical treatment after receiving initial care.

Following this horrific event, the village was filled with tension, prompting residents to protest on Saturday, demanding the immediate apprehension of the assailants.

In order to maintain peace, police from six different stations have been deployed in the vicinity.

Baghpura Station House Officer (SHO) Velaram confirmed that police teams are actively pursuing the assailants while investigations continue.

After being informed about the incident, the Baghpura police arrived at the crime scene for an investigation. The deceased were subsequently taken to the Jhadol mortuary for post-mortem procedures.

Authorities reported that the victims were identified through the assistance of local villagers, and their families have been notified.

Officials are also exploring the possibility that longstanding rivalries may have contributed to the attack.

Suresh was reportedly employed at a fast-food establishment in Baghpura.

Family members and villagers protested at the crime scene, insisting on the prompt arrest of those responsible. They also demanded compensation of Rs 50 lakh each and government jobs for the families of the deceased.

Additional SP Anjana Sukhwal, Tehsildar Sitaram, and DSP Vivek Singh Rao visited the location to engage with the villagers in an effort to calm their fears.

Despite these discussions, the community maintained their demands, and the families of the deceased have reportedly refused to accept the bodies, indicating that they may hold another protest on Sunday.

SHO Velaram noted that several individuals have been named as suspects in the case, and police teams have been dispatched to various locations to apprehend them.

Police personnel from Babalwara, Pahada, Jhadol, Baghpura, Ogna, and Falasiya police stations, along with additional units from the Police Lines, have been deployed to the area.

According to Jhadol DSP Vivek Singh Rao, police teams are actively searching for the suspects.
