Srinagar, May 4 (NationPress) The Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, stated that the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL), which connects Kashmir to Kanyakumari, is set to herald a new era for the Union Territory.

He emphasized that the World’s tallest Chenab Railway Bridge, along with a system of 36 tunnels and 943 additional bridges, symbolizes the aspirations of a progressive Kashmir and the commitment of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to crafting a transformative chapter for Jammu and Kashmir.

“The Hon’ble Prime Minister, Modi, has established an inclusive and vibrant future for Jammu and Kashmir. His leadership has ushered in a new dynamism across various sectors, ensuring that no segment of society is overlooked. The Prime Minister’s vision and swift execution of development initiatives have made what once appeared unattainable a reality,” he remarked.

Lt Governor Sinha further explained that the Prime Minister has visited Jammu and Kashmir five times since 2022 to inaugurate and lay the groundwork for significant infrastructure projects worth Rs 64,400 crore. Additionally, 53 projects valued at Rs 58,477 crore under the PMDP, along with other connectivity and development endeavors running into thousands of crores, are propelling Jammu and Kashmir toward accelerated growth.

“The Rail Project, costing Rs 43,780 crore, which connects Kashmir to Kanyakumari, is a feat of engineering excellence. It will foster an optimal environment for trade, business, and all-weather transportation. I firmly believe it is a railway line leading to the future,” he noted.

He highlighted that Jammu and Kashmir is on the brink of becoming a developed and Atmanirbhar Union Territory under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.

He affirmed that the Prime Minister’s New Vision for New Jammu Kashmir ensures swift social and economic transformation, creating a prosperous society that treats all citizens equally.

“The Prime Minister’s infrastructure initiative is designed to propel the transformation of Jammu and Kashmir, enhancing connectivity with other regions of the country, boosting industrial activities, elevating living standards, and promoting widespread economic engagement. Enhanced connectivity brings prosperity, and this landmark railway line will unlock the potential of Jammu and Kashmir, driving exceptional economic growth in remote areas,” Sinha concluded.
