Jaipur, June 16 (NationPress) The remains of Rajveer Singh Chauhan (37), a pilot from Jaipur who tragically perished in a helicopter accident in Uttarakhand on June 15, will be returned to his family only after identification through DNA testing, as stated by an official on Monday.
His elder brother, Chandraveer Singh Chauhan, has traveled to Rudraprayag in Uttarakhand to claim the body, accompanied by other family members.
Following this identification, the family will make arrangements for the final rites. Though originally from Dausa, they have been residing in Shastri Nagar, Jaipur for several years.
Expressing their profound sorrow, Rajveer's father, Govind Singh, shared: “We are shattered. It feels as though lightning has struck. We will have more to say once our elder son Chandraveer returns with the body.”
A retired Lt Colonel, Rajveer had been employed by Aryan Aviation Private Limited for nine months. He sent his last communication to the control room at approximately 5:20 a.m. on Sunday, just before the helicopter crashed in the Gaurikund forest area, resulting in the deaths of all seven individuals on board.
Rajveer served nearly 14 years in the Indian Army. His wife, Deepika Chauhan, also a Lt Colonel, gave birth to twin sons just four months ago, after 14 years of marriage.
Rajveer's father, a retired BSNL employee, mentioned that the family was preparing for the Jalwa Poojan, a traditional ceremony for the newborns. Instead, they now face an unimaginable tragedy.
A cloud of sorrow has enveloped Rajveer Singh Chauhan's home in Shastri Nagar, Jaipur.
Just 15 days prior to a planned celebration for the birth of his twin sons, the Chauhan family is now mourning an irreplaceable loss. Friends, relatives, and neighbors have been visiting to offer their condolences.
The atmosphere is heavy with disbelief, and the family is grappling with the reality of Rajveer's absence. Govind Singh recounted the moment he learned of the crash.
“Rajveer’s colleague, Captain V.K. Singh, called me around 7:45 a.m. to inform me about the helicopter accident.”
He revealed: “Rajveer’s final message was, ‘I am taking a left turn for landing.’ Moments later, the crash occurred.”
Rajveer married in 2011, and after 14 years, his wife recently welcomed their twin sons just four months ago. They had planned a grand ceremony on June 30 to celebrate this long-awaited joy.
“We had booked the venue, finalized the guest list; Rajveer was supposed to return home on June 25 on leave. The entire family was busy preparing for the celebration,” his father added.
Although Rajveer had joined Aryan Aviation after his retirement, he had taken a break during his wife’s delivery, resuming flying just a month and a half ago.
When the tragic news broke, Govind Singh had to gather the strength to inform Rajveer’s wife. What was meant to be a joyous occasion for the Chauhan family has transformed into profound sorrow.
A life full of promise has been abruptly cut short, leaving a family in shambles and twin sons who will never know their father — the tragedy has left an indelible mark on Jaipur and beyond, according to family members.
