The symposium, titled ‘Bhartiya Loktantra aur Samvidhaan ka Sabse Andhkaarmaya Daur: Na Bhoolein, Na Shama Karen’, is being organized as part of #SamvidhanHatyaDiwas.
Speaker Vijender Gupta highlighted that the event will not only honor those who opposed the Emergency but also remind the youth to remain vigilant, uphold democratic principles, and prevent the recurrence of such a dark chapter in history.

The assembly aims to prompt national reflection on one of the most challenging and authoritarian periods in India's democratic journey, according to a statement from the Assembly's secretariat.
The symposium will underscore the importance of maintaining constitutional values, protecting civil liberties, and ensuring the independence of democratic institutions.
It will gather distinguished scholars, constitutional specialists, senior journalists, bureaucrats, civil society representatives, and individuals who experienced the Emergency's atrocities.
The event will feature keynote addresses, reflective discussions, and personal accounts that delve into the Emergency's lasting impact on India's democratic framework.
In conjunction with this significant milestone, an enlightening commemorative booklet titled ‘Apatkaal@50’ will be unveiled during the proceedings.
Earlier that day, to mark the 50th anniversary of the Emergency imposed by Congress, the Delhi BJP Yuva Morcha hosted a Mock Parliament at the NDMC Convention Centre.
Chief guests Dr. S. Jaishankar (Minister of External Affairs) and Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva inaugurated the event by lighting a ceremonial lamp.
Youth and students from various colleges took part in the Mock Parliament.
Prior to their addresses, Dr. Jaishankar and Sachdeva attended a special exhibition commemorating the Emergency's 50 years.
In his welcome speech, Delhi BJP Yuva Morcha President Sagar Tyagi reflected on the Emergency as a grim chapter in India's past.
Sachdeva noted that the Mock Parliament aimed to educate the younger generation about how Congress undermined the Constitution to retain power and suppressed freedom of expression.
He remarked that during the Emergency, some were maimed, and others were killed, driven purely by a thirst for power. Today’s youth must comprehend the true nature of the Emergency.
Sachdeva praised Dr. Jaishankar for demonstrating India’s global influence over the past decade and highlighted India’s firm stance during the SCO meeting, where Defence Minister Rajnath Singh refused to endorse a joint statement lacking mention of the brutal terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives.
