Union Minister Khattar Emphasizes Promotion of Martial Arts at Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Memorial

Chandigarh, Jan 6 (NationPress) Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini co-chaired a meeting of the Lohgarh Project Development Committee on Monday, where they emphasized the need to enhance the focus on traditional Sikh martial arts within the memorial's vision.

This committee was established to supervise the construction of the world-class Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Memorial, set to be located in Lohgarh, within the Yamunanagar district.

The Haryana government has created the Lohgarh Project Development Committee to ensure the timely progression of the memorial.

In his role as the Chief Patron of the committee, Union Minister Khattar urged officials to expedite the establishment of this significant heritage memorial, with the goal of completing it for public dedication as soon as possible.

Khattar articulated that the memorial should center around the life story of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, capturing the heroic themes of his courage and sacrifice.

He proposed that the memorial feature a museum showcasing the battles led by Baba Banda Singh Bahadur and other Sikh Gurus against the Mughal empire throughout India.

The design of the memorial should be educational, particularly aimed at enlightening younger generations about the historical significance and contributions of Veer Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, Khattar noted.

Additionally, he advocated for a stronger focus on reviving the traditional Sikh martial arts that were practiced in earlier times.

During the meeting, it was revealed that the project will be executed in two phases.

The initial phase, with an estimated cost of nearly Rs 74 crore, will concentrate on restoring the fort, constructing the Quilanuma Wall, erecting an entrance gate, creating a Nanakshahi coin, landscaping the area, and building the memorial.

A cutting-edge museum will also be established, integrating the life narrative of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur with modern technology to provide an engaging experience for visitors.

This memorial at Lohgarh, recognized as the first capital of the 'Sikh Raj' founded by Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, aims to revive the remarkable tales of his bravery, valor, and sacrifice.

Furthermore, a significant museum dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of Sikh culture will be constructed on three acres in Pipli, Kurukshetra.
