New Delhi, Oct 15 (NationPress) General Upendra Dwivedi, the Indian Army Chief, is currently participating in a series of high-profile discussions with senior military officials from various countries at the United Nations Chiefs of the Counter-Terrorism Conference (UNTCC) 2025. The focus of these talks is to explore avenues for enhancing defence collaboration and bolstering global security initiatives.
On Wednesday, General Dwivedi engaged with Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia, the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, where they conducted what was described as “constructive discussions” by the Indian Army.
In their talks, both leaders reaffirmed their dedication to strengthening defence cooperation, emphasizing key areas such as UN peacekeeping, counter-terrorism, and strategic coordination. They also highlighted the importance of enhanced collaboration through training exchanges and joint exercises, according to an official statement.
Earlier on Tuesday, General Dwivedi had discussions with top military representatives from Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan to investigate opportunities for expanding cooperation in UN peacekeeping and defence training initiatives.
During his meeting with Colonel Kalmataev Kumarbek Murzabekovich, the Acting Chief of General Staff of Kyrgyzstan, they focused on enhancing training cooperation, strengthening defence dialogue, and expanding collaboration through UN peacekeeping initiatives.
On the sidelines of the UNTCC 2025, General Upendra Dwivedi also met with Major General Mereke Kuchekbayev, Chief of Land Forces of Kazakhstan. This meeting reaffirmed the longstanding defence partnership between India and Kazakhstan, focusing on training cooperation, capacity building, and ongoing engagement for regional peace and stability, the Army reported.
In addition, Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh, the Vice Chief of the Indian Army, held discussions with Lieutenant General Fernando Paglialunga, Chief of the Personnel Employment Department of the Italian Army.
The discussions centered on enhancing defence cooperation, joint training, and collaboration in UN peacekeeping. Both sides reiterated their commitment to strengthening institutional linkages and shared efforts towards global peace and stability, as stated by the Indian Army.
Earlier on October 13, General Upendra Dwivedi also met with General Pierre Schill, his French counterpart. The two Army Chiefs reaffirmed the strong Indo-French strategic partnership, discussing expanding joint training exercises, counter-terrorism cooperation, and defence technology collaboration, according to an official statement on X. They both underscored the significance of enhanced interoperability in UN peacekeeping operations.
