Lucknow, July 24 (NationPress) In a significant move aimed at uplifting agricultural workers in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath declared on Thursday an increase in the minimum wage rates.
This wage increase is poised to benefit millions of rural families, as laborers involved in various agricultural activities across the state will now earn a minimum daily wage of Rs 252, translating to Rs 6,552 per month.
The new wage structure will extend its advantages to countless workers engaged not only in traditional farming but also in related sectors such as animal husbandry, beekeeping, and poultry farming.
This rise in daily and monthly earnings is a substantial step towards narrowing the disparity between escalating living costs and stagnant incomes, thereby providing farmers with enhanced financial security and the opportunity for a more dignified lifestyle.
According to M.K. Shanmuga Sundaram, Principal Secretary of the Labour and Employment Department, this revised minimum wage will be applicable to all farming activities throughout Uttar Pradesh.
This encompasses traditional farming, mushroom cultivation, and labor related to transporting crops to markets, as well as sectors like dairy farming, animal husbandry, beekeeping, poultry farming, and all corresponding support roles.
Wages may be disbursed in cash, partially in cash, in kind (such as farm produce), or via digital payment methods. Under no circumstances should the wages fall below the latest prescribed rates.
Importantly, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has consistently prioritized the protection of workers’ rights within his administration.
Previously, the state has registered millions of unorganized workers through the e-Shram portal, linking them to government welfare initiatives.
By promoting fair wages and digital transactions, the government has reinforced its commitment to prioritizing the welfare of farmers.
