New Delhi, June 6 (NationPress) As Bakra Eid festivities approach on Saturday, the Uttar Pradesh Police are on heightened alert, implementing proactive measures to ensure communal harmony and facilitate peaceful celebrations throughout the state. Security protocols have been reinforced in districts such as Meerut, Aligarh, Etawah, and Ghazipur, featuring the deployment of the Rapid Action Force (RAF), Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), and Local Intelligence Unit (LIU) teams.
In Meerut, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Vipin Tada stated: "The police in Meerut are prepared for Bakra Eid. A control room is operational for real-time monitoring, overseen by both the SSP and the District Magistrate. Meetings with the Central Peace Committee have included representatives from all communities. The deployment includes PAC, civil police, and LIU teams for security. We are closely monitoring social media, and any misinformation spread will result in strict action. Public prayers, the sacrifice of banned animals, and open-air sacrifices are strictly forbidden.”
Similar security measures are being implemented in Aligarh.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Mayank Pathak remarked: "We are ensuring robust security for Bakra Eid. Additional forces, including two companies of RAF and PAC, are being deployed. Personnel from various police stations and Circle Officers (COs) will be present on-site. Surveillance will monitor any criminal or disruptive activities. Drone cameras will be utilized to oversee key areas. Intelligence and LIU will provide real-time updates. We will act decisively against those posting inflammatory or objectionable content on social media."
The police in Etawah have finalized their strategy for smooth celebrations.
SSP Brijesh Kumar Srivastava stated: "We have convened a meeting of the Central Peace Committee with key stakeholders from both communities. The district has been divided into zones and sectors, with specific responsibilities assigned to police personnel and magistrates. All officials will be on patrol to ensure that the festival is observed peacefully."
In Ghazipur, Superintendent of Police Iraj Raja noted: “During the Central Peace Committee meeting, we issued clear directives: sacrifices must not occur in open areas, and prayers should not be conducted publicly. The sacrifice of banned animals is strictly prohibited. Any violations will result in action per government directives. Security measures are fully in place across both urban and rural regions. Magistrates and police officers will be deployed from morning prayers until late at night to guarantee the safety of the celebrations.”
Eid al-Adha, also known as Bakra Eid, Bakrid, Eid Qurban, or Qurban Bayarami, is one of the most significant festivals in Islam. Celebrated in the month of Zul Hijjah, the 12th month of the Islamic lunar calendar, it commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s readiness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God.
