Lucknow, March 31 (NationPress) Uttar Pradesh's Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, has announced the initiative to assign ‘CM Fellows’ in all districts, aiming to expedite the progress towards achieving a $1 trillion economy for the state, as stated by an official on Tuesday.
In a high-level meeting, the Chief Minister emphasized that economic growth at the district level should be evidence-based and result-oriented, similar to the Aspirational Blocks and Aspirational Urban Local Bodies Programme.
He directed that the economic and data analysis capabilities of the District OTD (One Trillion Dollar) cell should be enhanced.
“To achieve this, two specialists should be appointed in each district—one focusing on economic development and the other on data analysis—as ‘OTD CM Fellows’,” he mentioned.
CM Adityanath highlighted the importance of these experts conducting evidence-based analyses of local resources, investment prospects, and the economic landscape, thereby fortifying the District OTD Cell in crafting district-tailored development strategies.
He instructed that monthly updates on economic activities conducted by the OTD CM Fellows should be shared on an online dashboard.
“Moreover, quarterly progress reports and presentations at the Principal Secretary/Secretary level must be provided. Recommendations aimed at enhancing economic activities should be compiled and presented to the District OTD Cell, with local data routinely analyzed for development tracking,” said CM Yogi Adityanath.
Regarding the selection criteria for OTD CM Fellows, the Chief Minister asserted, “It is essential to ensure high academic credentials and technical skills.”
The Planning Department noted that candidates for the economic development expert role should possess a postgraduate degree or an MBA in Economics, Applied Economics, Econometrics, Finance, or Data Science. For data analysts, a postgraduate degree or an MBA in Statistics, Applied Statistics, Econometrics, Business Analytics, or Data Science may be necessary, as outlined in a statement.
CM Adityanath added, “This initiative aims to enhance data-driven decision-making at the district level, thereby fostering investment, job creation, and the comprehensive development of the local economy.”
