Jammu, July 18 (NationPress) Following the US's classification of The Resistance Front (TRF) as a global terrorist organization, former Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) S.P. Vaid commended the decision as a triumph of truth and a significant setback to Pakistan's enduring propaganda efforts.
"This development signifies a victory for both truth and Indian diplomacy. Pakistan has attempted to portray TRF as a local militant faction comprised of Kashmiri youth, but the reality is clear -- over 90% of its members are Pakistani nationals," Vaid stated to IANS.
"This group, acting as a front for Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), has been functioning in Kashmir for many years, and its true nature has now been unveiled to the global community."
Vaid highlighted the significance of Prime Minister Modi's strategic international outreach.
"This achievement results from ongoing diplomatic initiatives, including Operation Sindoor, where Indian delegations engaged with the global community to reveal Pakistan's duplicity regarding terrorism," he remarked.
"The Foreign Ministry and the BJP government under Narendra Modi deserve full acknowledgment for this success."
He noted that TRF has not only been active in the Kashmir Valley but has also orchestrated terror attacks in the Jammu region, including locations like Rajouri, Poonch, Kathua, Hiranagar, Basantgarh, and Doda.
In the meantime, the US designation comes after increasing international pressure and a demand for accountability following the tragic Pahalgam attack in April 2025, which resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians.
The US State Department confirmed that TRF, identified as a proxy of LeT, had claimed responsibility for this assault. This incident marks the deadliest act of terrorism on Indian soil since the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated on Thursday, "The designation of TRF as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) and a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) demonstrates the Trump administration's commitment to combating terrorism and fulfilling President Trump's promise for justice for the victims of Pahalgam."
US President Donald Trump strongly condemned the attack, expressing solidarity with India during a phone conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, assuring full support in bringing the culprits to justice.
Regarding the ongoing Amarnath Yatra, Vaid cautioned against Pakistan's efforts to undermine peace and tourism in the area.
"Pakistan aims to devastate tourism in Kashmir, drive youth into unemployment, and subsequently into terrorism. However, the people of Kashmir are fully aware of this scheme. The facades of TRF, LeT, and other factions are merely disguises -- behind them lie the Pakistan Army and the ISI," he asserted.
As over two lakh devotees have participated in the Amarnath Yatra thus far, with a new group of 6,143 pilgrims departing for Kashmir on Friday, former DGP Vaid lauded the determination of the Indian populace and security forces in ensuring the Yatra proceeds without incident.
"For 35 years, Pakistan has incited terrorism under the guise of jihad. They will not change unless we respond with firmness. If necessary, Operation Sindoor should be reinstated to counter their actions," Vaid concluded.
