Lucknow, Jan 9 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, along with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, inaugurated a cutting-edge electric vehicle manufacturing facility belonging to an Indian automobile company in Lucknow on Friday.

This state-of-the-art facility, dedicated to the nation in just 18 months, serves as a testament to Uttar Pradesh's swift industrial evolution under the leadership of the double-engine government at both the state and central levels.

The officials toured the modern plant and planted 'Sindoor' (vermilion) and Rudraksha saplings on-site, symbolizing a fusion of tradition and advancement.

Expressing his appreciation for the firm's Chairman for their investment, CM Yogi Adityanath conveyed his sincere gratitude for their trust in Uttar Pradesh's administration.

The Chief Minister highlighted that the new Uttar Pradesh is characterized by “Fearless Business”, “Ease of Doing Business”, and “Trust of Doing Business”.

He described the plant as a significant project that aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for sustainable industrial development and environmental stewardship.

Reflecting on the situation before 2017, he noted that Uttar Pradesh was once mired in lawlessness, causing investors to leave and resulting in an identity crisis for the state.

“Prior to 2017, Uttar Pradesh was a state of unrest; now it has transformed into a state of celebration,” declared the Chief Minister.

“No longer categorized as a BIMARU state, Uttar Pradesh has achieved revenue surplus through clear intentions, decisive governance, and a robust vision,” he added.

Yogi Adityanath remarked that investors were continuously withdrawing, and the state was struggling with turmoil.

However, since 2017, the Yogi Adityanath administration has reestablished Uttar Pradesh as a land of boundless potential.

Currently, the Chief Minister stated, Uttar Pradesh has evolved into a state that translates extensive opportunities into concrete outcomes.

The remarkable transformation over the last eight-and-a-half years stands as clear evidence of this progress, he emphasized.

“The new plant has an annual production capacity of 2,500 units, with intentions to increase this to 5,000 in phases,” he noted.

It will provide thousands of direct and indirect job opportunities for the youth of the state, he added.

Furthermore, CM Yogi Adityanath pointed out that the facility represents the national commitment to addressing climate change through electric mobility.

He mentioned that investments are now pouring into all 75 districts.

“Uttar Pradesh features exceptional infrastructure, including 55% of India's expressways, metro services in the highest number of cities, the largest rail network in the country, two dedicated freight corridors, logistics terminals, the first rapid rail, and operational inland waterways,” he highlighted.

“With 34 sector-specific policies in place, investors can engage in any sector,” he added.

The state has attracted investment proposals totaling Rs 45 lakh crore over the past eight to nine years, according to CM Yogi Adityanath.

“Projects worth Rs 15 lakh crore have commenced, another Rs 6 lakh crore is expected to begin next month, and Rs 5 lakh crore more are in the pipeline. Contributing 9.5% to India’s GDP, Uttar Pradesh's GSDP is projected to reach Rs 36 lakh crore by the end of the current financial year,” he stated.

“The state aspires to become a $1 trillion economy by 2029–30, supporting the national goal of a $5 trillion economy by 2027,” he explained.

Uttar Pradesh has swiftly emerged as a global center for electronics and IT, accounting for 55% of India's mobile phone manufacturing and 60% of electronic goods production.

It excels in the ease of doing business and thrives in sectors such as MSMEs, AI (artificial intelligence), semiconductors, cybersecurity, robotics, electric vehicles, agritech, fintech, deeptech, healthtech, tourism, hospitality, defence manufacturing, and sports.

The state is home to over 18,000 startups, supported by 76 incubators, seven Centres of Excellence, and eight unicorns.

The manufacturing plant was established under the state's FDI and Fortune 500 policy.

Before 2017, foreign direct investment was minimal, but proactive strategies have attracted global companies.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed in September 2023, land was allocated in January 2024, and the world-class facility was commissioned in 18 months—a testament to expedited approvals and strong governance.

Platforms such as Nivesh Mitra, Nivesh Sarathi, and Udyami Mitra ensure seamless coordination and support for investors.

In 2024, Uttar Pradesh captured 19% of India's electric vehicle market and significantly benefited from the FAME I and FAME II initiatives, with 700 electric buses operational.

The plant will manufacture 17–18 seater electric vehicles priced at approximately Rs 15 lakh, ideal for school transportation and inter-city connectivity, enhanced by the state’s Electric Vehicle Policy.
