UP mobile manufacturing hub: CM Yogi credits PM Modi's vision at Jewar event
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday, 27 June credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's policy vision for transforming the state into a leading hub for mobile phone manufacturing. Speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony of a solar unit in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Adityanath also outlined the state's sweeping industrial and green energy ambitions.
Industrial Corridor and Investor Push
Adityanath highlighted a new industrial corridor spanning 56,000 acres between Kanpur and Jhansi, describing it as a transformative project for the region. He noted that the Centre swiftly processed the environmental clearance for the corridor. 'When we sent the proposal for environmental clearance to the Government of India and to Bhupender Yadav ji, he promptly completed all the formalities within the set time frame and also approved,' he said.
The Chief Minister added that Uttar Pradesh now maintains a land bank of 75,000 acres and has put in place separate sectoral policies to attract domestic and global investors. He framed improved law and order as a key enabler, saying that Jewar had moved from what he called 'Jungle Raj' to 'Mangal Raj' under the current administration.
Renewable Energy Targets
Adityanath said the state has been actively promoting green energy over the past nine years and is now targeting 20,000 MW of renewable energy capacity within three years, up from the current 6,000 MW. Beyond solar, the state is also pursuing energy generation from crop residue through CNG, ethanol, and compressed biogas — an approach he said would also help curb stubble burning in farm fields.
Ethanol Leadership and Sugar Mill Revival
Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the country's largest ethanol-producing state following the implementation of its ethanol blending policy, according to Adityanath. The state now accounts for 55 per cent of total national ethanol production. He said the policy has also helped make sugar mills financially self-sustaining, pulling them out of what he described as 'virtual bankruptcy'.
Cane Farmers and Pending Dues
Adityanath said the state government has credited ₹3.22 lakh crore directly to the accounts of sugarcane farmers over the past nine years to clear their outstanding dues — a figure he presented as evidence of the administration's commitment to the agricultural sector. The remarks come as Uttar Pradesh continues to position itself as a manufacturing and clean-energy destination ahead of a fresh round of investor summits.
