Lucknow, May 6 (NationPress) In a significant move towards fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Digital India’ vision, the government of Uttar Pradesh, led by Yogi Adityanath, has sanctioned a budget of Rs 121 crore for the comprehensive digitisation of land records statewide. This funding is part of the Digital India Land Records Modernisation Programme (DILRMP) initiated by the Government of India.
Upon implementation, this initiative aims to drastically decrease the necessity for citizens to visit government offices for land-related documentation, promoting enhanced transparency in land governance. Essential services concerning land records will soon be available at citizens’ fingertips or with a simple click, ensuring convenience, transparency, and eliminating the need to physically visit government offices.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued explicit instructions to facilitate the digital transformation of land records for public convenience. The project encompasses the digitisation of all vital documents—including land maps, khatoni, and khasra records—making them easily accessible through a unified data repository. This will enable retrieval of land-related documents at the click of a button.
Of the Rs 121 crore allocated for the initiative, Rs 46.45 crore has already been disbursed, with the remaining Rs 74.64 crore expected to be released shortly.
The project also entails the establishment of modern record rooms across the state, along with a dedicated DILRMP cell to oversee and implement the initiative. Furthermore, a specialised computer lab and digital data bank will be created to ensure easy public access to land records.
A detailed action plan has been prepared by the department, focusing on a citizen-centric approach. The implementation of this plan is currently in progress, with the establishment of a dedicated Project Management Unit (PMU). Once operational, the PMU will ensure that all components of the project are executed efficiently and transparently.
