How Did PM Modi Honor Abdul Kalam's Legacy?

New Delhi, July 27 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi honored APJ Abdul Kalam on Sunday, stating that his ideas inspire the youth to actively participate in the creation of a prosperous and robust India.

Kalam held the position of the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007.

Revered as the ‘Missile Man of India’, Kalam garnered respect and admiration from individuals and political entities alike for his humble lifestyle and impartial nature.

While paying heartfelt tributes, PM Modi remarked that he is remembered as an inspiring visionary, exceptional scientist, and a devoted patriot.

“On his death anniversary, I pay homage to our cherished former President, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. He is remembered as an inspiring visionary, outstanding scientist, mentor, and a great patriot. His commitment to our nation was unparalleled. His insights encourage the youth of India to contribute to building a developed and strong India,” PM Modi expressed on his X handle.

PM Modi has consistently held Kalam in high regard. Last year, while commemorating his birth anniversary, the Prime Minister highlighted his unique accomplishments, emphasizing how rare it is for an individual to be honored as a 'Rashtra Ratna' (Jewel of the Nation) before taking on the presidency.

Dr. Kalam was among India’s most esteemed scientists and leaders, remembered for his extraordinary yet simple life and remarkable work. He played a pivotal role in advancing India’s missile and defense systems, significantly contributing through the Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme, leading to successful missiles such as Agni and Prithvi.

Kalam was instrumental in providing India with nuclear capabilities. In 1998, he served as one of the chief coordinators for the Pokhran-II nuclear tests, where five bombs were detonated in the test range located in Pokhran, Rajasthan.

Affectionately called a 'people's president', Kalam had a passion for inspiring and uplifting the youth and children. On July 27, 2015, he tragically collapsed while delivering a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management Shillong, where he was later pronounced dead due to cardiac arrest.

BJP national president and Union Minister J.P. Nadda paid tribute to Kalam, stating that his life is a remarkable narrative of struggle and success. His unmatched contributions towards establishing India as a nuclear-powered nation will always be remembered.

“I extend my heartfelt respects to the former President of India, great scientist, Bharat Ratna, and 'Missile Man' Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam on his death anniversary. His life is a remarkable tale of perseverance and triumph. Despite facing numerous challenges, he rose to occupy the highest office in the country. His invaluable contributions to making India a nuclear-powered nation will remain etched in our memories. His thoughts and actions for national progress will continue to inspire our service to the nation,” Nadda conveyed on X.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also paid tribute to Kalam, stating that his life exemplified simplicity, dedication, and patriotism—serving as a divine inspiration for the entire nation.
