Lucknow, July 8 (NationPress) In a stunning advancement, Uttar Pradesh has significantly improved its position in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) index, moving from the ‘Performer’ category to being classified as a ‘Front Runner’.
According to the latest rankings, this northern state has enhanced its SDG score, climbing up from the 29th to the 18th position in the national index.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, during a high-level assessment meeting on Tuesday, acknowledged the state’s impressive progress regarding SDGs, calling it a milestone achievement.
“This accomplishment is a product of definitive policy direction, successful scheme implementation, and strong public involvement,” stated the CM.
He underscored that Uttar Pradesh has made considerable advancements in several sustainable development sectors over recent years, emphasizing that this success is not merely a numerical improvement but signifies genuine transformation intended to uplift all, particularly the underprivileged and marginalized communities.
CM Yogi pointed out the pivotal role played by government initiatives such as Har Ghar Jal, Har Ghar Bijli, Kanya Sumangala, Poshan Abhiyan, Mukhyamantri Arogya Yojana, Mission Shakti, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Mission Kayakalp, and ODOP in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the community level.
He remarked that these programs have enhanced the quality of life for citizens and reinforced trust in the governance system.
The Chief Minister also instructed officials to pursue the implementation of SDGs in a mission-oriented manner at the grassroots level. He emphasized that information about all schemes should be disseminated to Gram Panchayats, ensuring timely delivery of benefits to intended recipients. Achieving SDG targets, he noted, is a collective responsibility across every department, district, and Panchayat.
Highlighting the significance of timely data collection, he asserted that real progress can only be gauged with accurate data. CM Yogi directed the preparation and publication of SDG profiles for all districts.
“Data is not merely a record—it serves as the backbone of policy-making. Inaccurate or incomplete data fails to depict the true scenario or facilitate effective planning,” he added.
